Frank-Starling Curve

Frank-Starling Law: The heart adjusts its stroke volume in response to changes in preload (ventricular filling). Normal contractility — the ascending limb of the curve allows preload augmentation to increase SV.
The operating point (teal dot) moves in real time as you adjust the sliders above. The dashed green and red curves show the effect of ±30 units of contractility change. Reference: Starling EH. The Linacre Lecture on the Law of the Heart. 1918.
